Harley Joe Kincaid, Jr. (Brud) age 60, originally from Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Veterans Hospital in Asheville, NC.
He was a native of Cherokee County, NC and born to the late Harley Joe Kincaid Sr. and Ruth McDonald Fair Kincaid on April 24, 1953. Joe was the youngest of six children. He attended Murphy High School and upon graduation joined the United States Navy where he was stationed in Oxnard, California.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Lilly Kincaid of Asheville, NC; sisters, Vallie Bowman of Asheville, North Carolina, Dorothy Mack and husband Sinclair of Dover, Delaware; one brother, Harry Fair and wife Corrine of Asheville, NC; two aunts, Hazel Smith of Florida an Annie Jean Kincaid of Chattanooga, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews and cousins who are too numerous to mention. Joe was blessed with a very large family who loved him very much. He will be missed by all.

I am sorry that I am just now finding out about Joe's passing.
My heart is heavy with so many losses to our glorious class of '71.
We lose not only a funny and always friendly classmate and family member, but another one of our veterans that served ths nation with honor and courage.

I grew up with Joe. His nickname in the Texana community was "Brud", but I am not sure why. Back in the third grade or so he used to thump my head and other parts almost everyday, hehe. It's what kids do. Later we experienced some really great times together. He was a continuous part of my life for 25-30 years. It is never easy when you lose a piece of yourself. But, I am confident God of the Universe is taking good care of my brother. Peace and rest.
